Sports! Yeah, that's always a fun place to kick off (teehee, see what I did there?). The Yankees clinched the ALCS last night with a spectacular pitching performance from Andy Petite and a damn good offensive display from the Yankees lineup. I'm pretty stoked for the World Series; Game 1 is Wednesday night in the Bronx. Phillies v Yankees; should be quite a damn good series. I say the Yankees win it in six games.
Ok, time to discuss matters of a more "intellectual" or "sophisticated" view. Or atleast that's what I'd like you to believe so you stick around. On the literature front lines, I am still reading "Diary" by Chuck Palahniuk. The guy is a damn amazing author. His style is by far the most unique since Poe, in my mind. But then again, I'm a 23 year old Wal-Mart employee with just a high school diploma. So please, consider me a grain of salt. After I finish this novel, I plan to jump into Greg Bear's "City at the End of Time". I've never even heard of this author, but it grabbed my eyes at the library, so why not take a chance? And speaking of libraries, I have a little something for you to try the next time you happen to find yourself in one. When you are searching for your read, try to just walk the aisles with your eyes roaming free. Don't let any inhibitions stop you; as soon as you see a cover or title that grabs your mind, pick it up and take it home. Don't read the inside covers or critic reviews on the back cover; just take the book and go. I've found some damn good ones this way (and yes, a few horrible ones).
-Coffee Break-
Ah, well that makes life much better, the daily coffee. I went with a cup of classic roast mixed with french vanilla creme. Good sweet Krishna it is amazing and truly is making the colors shine brighter. While I'm on the subject of brighter colors, let's talk about films. I have to say that the two I've seen lately that I absolutely recommend are Shrink (Starring Kevin Spacey) and King of California (Starring Michael Douglas). I won't get into too deep of a plot-line conversation about both films, but they are both small budget works that really have a near perfect blend of comedy and drama. Shrink has Kevin Spacey playing the part of a Hollywood psychologist who helps various star clients, all while battling his own addiction to painkillers and drugs. His father, also a psychologist, recommends he takes on the case of high school girl who has gone through similar tragedies. The connection he makes with this girl helps them both get through their tough times. The film has wonderful character development among all it's cast, and to be honest I barely scratched on the entire storyline. Please give this film a shot and I'll bet my Joe Montana autographed football that you won't be disappointed. The next film I mentioned was King of California. I won't even launch into a description, but rather throw the trailer on here for you. Shit, I should have done that with the first one.
Basically, go see the two films I mentioned. You will feel much better about everything if you do.
Well I will stop this rambling show of nonsense now. I'm going out (after my coffee of course) to take some photos and maybe even make my first Vlog (wowzers!). Until the next time, I hope you stay interested and I hope your friends have fun laughing at you for reading this!
