Oh noes! Three full days with no post! Cue me to the rescue!

Yes Yes Yes, I know, three full days without a post. How did you all (and by all I mean the three of you who read this) actually survive? Eh, well I'll go ahead and issues my apologies. Wednesday was not a great day for me, and if you know me at all and know my obsession with Yankees baseball, that would be why it wasn't so great. Thursday I simply did not have the time (though the Yankees did win) due to my commitments to work and friends (hooray for IHOP coffee). Yesterday I picked up a HDD for my Xbox360 and was gaming most of the day after I worked. So yeah...on that last one, that's just me being a lazy American I guess. But goddamn I am an American!

So, I suppose that takes me to the point of today, this wonderfully mundane Saturday. Oh, and Happy Halloween to all of you. This holiday just makes me think of me ten years ago, when I was on my last trick-or-treat run. I miss those days, and for more reasons than just the candy. The days before I was legal to work and legal to acquire debt. The days before I worried over phone bills, car payments, insurance, employment, benefits, credit reports, etc. Those were some amazing times. When I was 13 I was playing Pokemon and watching Dragonball Z. Now, I still do play the Pokemon, but I watch hipster indie flicks, play music religiously, and spend the majority of my time buried in a book. Yeah, I've come a long way in ten years, a long way to less money, less education, and less friends. Life! Can't stop it, so just ride the wave right?

Bajingo, that sure got depressing in a hurry! Sorry if that little bit threw you off or anything. I'm not in a downer mood, just reflective today it seems. Funny how the holidays manage to pull that psychological shit on you from time to time. Hm how about a fun subject, such as music! What a shock, I bet you are thinking. The musician wishes to talk about music. Hey, I'm just being true to the man in the mirror. Anyway, a good friend and myself began a project a little over a month ago. It's mostly indie/acoustic/folk type of stuff, but it's relaxing and we don't rush a thing. By that I mean we never set practice days; we just meet up when we are able to. Well, that process has led us to having about 14 songs that are absolutely finished, and 45 other ideas. It's great and the creativity is like a river. We hope to record some of this stuff soon, and we are actually setting a date for a potential show. Nothing big or glorious, just a coffee house show with good friends. He plays guitar, percussion and sings, whereas I play bass, piano, and guitar. Basically, picture two guys sitting in a pile of instruments, just flowing from one to the other for certain parts of songs. I have to say, it's been the most fulfilling musical project I've ever had the good fortune to be a part of.

OK, narcissistic rant, check! Moving on, though not very far. Music recommendations for this post are Ugly Casanova (Isaac Brock from Modest Mouse leads this one), She & Him, Thrice, and let's round it off with Battles. A decent blend and one I find to be damn amazing on certain days. Literature recommendations are "Diary" by Chuck Palahniuk. I know I've touched base on this one before, but I felt the need to push it again. I'm currently reading "Lullaby" by Chuck Palahniuk and also "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren (just wanted to see what the hype was about). No film recommendations due to how I haven't had the chance to watch anything lately.

Well maybe I need to stop here. I've rambled, ranted, bitched and bragged long enough. To those of you who do read this, thank you for caring just enough to actually see what is travelling through my thoughts. Also, the vlog is in the works. I have a script for it and everything, just need to get the filming started. I want it to be somewhat decent, so I'm trying to put some effort in it. Again, other ways to check into what I'm up to are listed at the bottom. I'll even put up an email address if you wish to send me information on books, music or film. Until the next one (hopefully tomorrow) I hope your dreams become your realities.
